Welcome Friends! My name is Christine Berro and it is my privilege to direct the operations of Portage District Library and serve all of you who enter our doors. Our mission is helping you access the world of information in a friendly atmosphere. Christine A. Berro

Director of Portage District Library since 1998, and employed at library for 28 years, previously serving as Head of Youth Services and as Adult & Youth Services librarian; Holds a BA Degree from Wayne State University and a Masters Degree in Library Science from Western Michigan University. Elected in May 2009 as President Elect of the Michigan Library Association; Past Chair of the MLA Legislative Committee for two terms; Past Chair of MLA Continuing Education Committee; and Past Chair of MLA Children’s Services Division and Current Chair of Portage Rotary Club Community Service Award Committee and Scholarship Committee. Has resided in Portage for almost 30 years.
