Help Provide Thanksgiving Meals
October 16th – 22nd 2017
This year during our Annual Food for Fines Campaign, we would like to focus on collecting the specific types of items necessary to fill the needs of the Thanksgiving Food Basket program at Portage Community Center. While we will accept any type of non-expired canned or packaged items, we would prefer items appropriate for a holiday meal.
Starting Monday, October 16, 2017 and ending Sunday, October 22, 2017, you can help by dropping off donations of canned or packaged non-perishable food items at the Portage District Library. If you have an overdue fine on your account, the library is offering to waive $1.00 in overdue fines for each item you donate through us during that time. If you choose to donate ramen noodles, it takes five individual packages to receive a waiver of $1.00 in overdue fines.
A special donation site will be located across from the Checkout Desk near our Hot Pick movies and games. Donations will not be taken at the Checkout Desk or any other public service desk either before or after the collection dates. Look for signs as you enter the library to direct you to the donation site.
