Newspapers and Journals Databases:

  • Access World News from Newsbank (Including Kalamazoo Gazette)PDL Database

    This database of newspapers provides content from Michigan and newspapers, including the Kalamazoo Gazette (back to 2005). It also contains articles from USA TODAY, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, The Washington Post, and a wide variety of other papers. Genealogists will also find the America's Obituaries & Death Notices collection very helpful. Most content is provided through the Michigan e-Library, including the Detroit News, Grand Rapids Press, and Traverse City Record Eagle, with the Kalamazoo Gazette content provided through the Portage District Library.

  • America’s Obituaries and Death NoticesPDL Database

    What Is America's Obituaries & Death Notices? America's Obituaries & Death Notices is NewsBank's large and comprehensive collection of newspaper obituaries and death notices from around the United States. Each obituary or death notice is indexed by the name of the deceased person, to make searching easier and more precise. In addition, the text of each obituary or death notice is searchable, making it easy to find just what you're looking for using a place of residence, occupation, names of family members, or other personal information.

  • Astronomical Journal: Other

    (AJ) was founded in 1849 by Benjamin A. Gould and was acquired by the AAS in 1941. The AJ publishes original astronomical research, with an emphasis on significant scientific results derived from observations, including descriptions of data capture, surveys, analysis techniques, and astrophysical interpretation. It takes a broad view of astronomy, extending from the solar system to observational cosmology with a tradition of papers discussing dynamical processes. Note: Other journals from the Institute of Physics are not available from this library.

  • DOAJ Directory of Open Access Journals: Other

    The aim of the Directory of Open Access Journals is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact. The Directory aims to be comprehensive and cover all open access scientific and scholarly journals that use a quality control system to guarantee the content.

    Educators, researchers, and general interest. Abstracts and/or Full text. Provides a comprehensive, easy-to-use, searchable Internet-based bibliographic and full-text database of education research and information. Includes bibliographic records (citations, abstracts, and other pertinent data) for more than 1.4 million items indexed since 1966, including:journal articles, books, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports, policy papers, and other education related materials. Currently, more than 650 journals are indexed in ERIC either comprehensively (full content) or selectively (articles that are education-related). Sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education.
