Volunteers

School Year

During the school year, we are always looking for volunteers ages 12-17! You would help us get ready for events, complete clerical tasks, and straighten collections. If you are interested, give us a call at 269/329-4542, ext. 603 or email us.

Due to demand, we limit each volunteer to 2 hours per week. You may reserve a time slot up to 2 weeks in advance. If you have any questions, call the number above or email us. We offer weekday afternoon and evening times, and some Saturday times as well.

Summer

Every summer, the Portage District Library hosts a Summer Reading Program for all ages. Over 2000 people participate in this program, and the program is run in the library by area teens ages 13-18. You would be helping people of all ages sign up and enter progress via online form, handing out prizes and praise, and completing other tasks such as program preparation and clerical duties. Call the Youth Information Desk (269)329-4542 ext. 603, or check our Events Calendar in May for the date of our information meeting, which takes place near the end of May.
