Green – This device can be used without supervision for DIY projects.
The Cricut Maker 3 allows you to create DIY projects with precision. It can be used to cut out fabric patterns or create vinyl decals, and can cut through a wide array of other materials.
Using the Smart Cutter
You can drop in to use one of our two Cricut Makers, but reservations are strongly recommended.
Before your initial visit, if you have never used a Cricut Maker before, please drop by during our Staffed Hours or schedule an appointment for a brief orientation on the machine by emailing createandmake@portagelibrary.info.
Costs
Use of the Cricut Maker is free. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own supplies. Materials can be purchased on Amazon, most big box stores, local craft stores and online craft stores such as Swing Design, Expressions Vinyl, and many more. Orocal and Siser ( for heat transfer vinyl, HTV) are reliable brands as well.
Contact us with your questions if you don’t know what material to purchase for your project or if you are unsure if the material you need is compatible with the Cricut Maker.
Heat Press
Red – Training required for use.
The library has two heat presses available for use, a 15” x 15” Heat Press Nation Swing Away Heat Press and a 16” x 20” Hotrotonix Clamshell Heat Press.
If you would like to use the heat press, you can come during our Staffed Hours @ the Makerspace. Check our events calendar for upcoming availability.
If you are not able to come during Staffed Hours, please email createandmake@portagelibrary.info or call 269-329-4544 to schedule an appointment. Heat presses may only be used when a Library Staff member is present.
